EL DEE DUBS is finally hereee! I can’t wait to not labor and celebrate summer send-off with an extra long weekend. Don’t stress, I have the perfect recipe to keep you looking cool no matter what the temp is outside.
HAT / JEAN JACKET / SWEATER / TANK DRESS / TASSEL DRESS / WEDGES / GLADIATORS / SUNGLASSES / BAR RING / CHAIN LINK RING / OLIVE BAG / NAIL POLISH
1. ACCESSORIZE.
This is by far the most fun part of every outfit. I liveee by the third piece rule, which just basically means you add a third piece (a hat, a belt, a vest) to an otherwise basic outfit to add interest. I LOVE a hat and where them whenever I can. Plus, it saves time on the hair, let’s be honest. I’ve been really into stackable rings and hand chains lately. Perfect way to showcase your fresh mani. OPI’s Big Apple Red is always in heavy rotation on my tips.
2. LAYERING PIECE.
I am a total freak and tend to get cold at some point during the night, no matter what season we are experiencing outside. I always always bring a sweater or long sleeve top to throw on an extra layer whenever I might need to. Nine times out of ten you will find a sweater tucked into my bag. I absolutely get this from my mini momma. She’s always cold, much like a little chihuahua. I love the destroyed detail in this olive green one. A jean jacket is such a classic piece. It can add interest to your ‘fit even if it is just tied around your waist.
3. AIRY PIECES.
Let’s face it, in Georgia it still feels like fall is far far away. In order to avoid a heat stroke, it is important to wear light, breathable clothing that won’t cling to you or make you sweat even more. I love this striped swing dress and this tasseled situation would double as an chic bikini cover-up. Both are under $10. Red, white and BOOM.
4. A HANDS-FREE BAG.
I’ve always said, “An extra free hand is a hand for an extra hotdog.” I have actually never said that before, but it is honestly one of the most truthful things I have ever shared. I love a shoulder bag for parties. You don’t want to be juggling a drink, a phone and a bag all night long. Load up a mini bag like this one with your essentials and let it hang. Grab a hotdog or seven, this is a judgment-free zone.
5. CHIC SANDAL.
As you guys know, I obsess over a gladiator sandal. There are, of course, exceptions to this one. If you are on the beach or by the pool, by all means, wear a flip flop, but if you are going to a barbeque or a party where you want to look a little more put together without actually trying too hard, this is an effortless option. Depending on the LDW scene you are rolling in, you might opt for the flats during the day and slip on the wedges to head out that night for cocktails.
Check out my guest post over on my sweet friend Jaime’s new site, Sunshine State Skinny, tomorrow for a second LDW look from my recipe!
Be safe and remember to live by the motto, WWRD. What would Rihanna do. She would definitely eat that second hotdog, that’s what.
