GUYS, I cannot put into words how much I love the way our engagement photos turned out. It only seemed fitting to share them on Wedding Wednesday, right?! Anyway, when I first saw these pictures, they literally took the breath out of my lungs. That might seem dramatic, but I am so serious. I meean, do you SEE my future husband!? Goodness he is a cute thing. He’s even sweeter than he is cute, if you can believe that. I just love seeing the looks on our faces. Gives me all the feels. I can’t wait to get a house, buy all of these frames, and plaster these babies all over our walls. Kidding. [No I am not]
As usual, I came to Allie of VivaLux Photography at 100 mph, blurting out my ideas and visions for the shoot, throwing Pinterest boards, moods and vibes at her, and she never missed a beat. In fact, she even provided the champagne AND MADE my beautiful bouquet. Is there anything this girl can’t do?! No. She is my lifeline.
I apologize in advance, this is a very picture-heavy post! I just didn’t know where to stop! To be fair, there are about 55 more I am sparing you from.
LACE GOWN / FLOWER CROWN by THE CHARLES LANE / LASHES BY AMAZING LASH ATLANTA
My beautiful flower crown was made from real blooms by the team at The Charles Lane. We spent a few days sending Pinterest pictures back and forth and I absolutely LOVED the final product that they came up with! Our wedding is just going to be a lot of white (get it?) and greenery, so I wanted our engagement pictures to have the same cohesive vibe. #bloggerproblems
HOW TO FIND A PHOTOGRAPHER:
As a blogger, I am lucky enough to work with talented photographers like my beloved VivaLux on a daily basis, but what if you have no idea where to even start? WeddingWire has an amazing search feature on their site where you can find everything from a photographer to a florist just by entering your city and state. There are so many resources out there to take the stress out of planning, it has really blown my mind.
WHEN TO TAKE ENGAGEMENT PICTURES:
Being that we got engaged in July and it is now September, I was feeling a little pushed to get these done. Especially since according to my trusty checklist, we were about a month behind schedule! GASP. However, in true Harrison form, I ordered my dress from China and it was taking longer than expected to arrive. Luckily, it was MORE than worth the wait.
I would suggest taking your engagement pictures within 3 months of getting engaged. That way your engagement is still fresh and new, and you have plenty of time to plan the shoot itself.
WHAT TO WEAR:
It was most important to me to look like myself. I know that sounds odd, like hello, it is you! Why wouldn’t you look like yourself? That’s not what I mean. Sometimes I feel like brides feel the pressure to get their hair professionally done, or hire a make-up artist, and to me that just wasn’t necessary. I curled my hair (although it frizzed and fell in the GA humidity..but again, that is ME!) and did my make-up just as I always do. (Full beauty routine here!)
I would suggest picking something easy to wear that you feel most attractive in. If that’s jeans, wear them! If that’s an evening gown, do you girlfriend. I just think when you feel good in what you’re wearing, it shows through the film. If you are adjusting, or picking at your clothes and feeling self-conscious, that’s what your pictures will show. Don’t feel obligated to wear white either. This blue would be stunning!
Don’t have a specific vision in mind? No problem! Spend some time looking through inspiration boards and searching #engagementphotos on Instagram! There is so much out there, you are sure to be inspired. I love this top and this jumpsuit if you want to skip the dress thing altogether.

PHOTO SHOOT MAKE-UP TIPS:
Try to do your make-up in the most natural light you can find! This will help eliminate chances of your face not matching your neck, etc. Next, choose a foundation that does not have SPF in it. Foundations with SPF will have a flashback effect which will make you appear shiny. I love this one from Makeup Forever. Finally, set your look so that it will stay even when your hair decides to frizz. Ehm. This is my current favorite setting spray.
